Taking the lead of Salome, and after Poyeye’s 67 years of non-committment, Olive Oyl took the only honorable action a spurned women could take, she cut off his head and served it to Wimpy.

In a late-twenties comic strip, Olive, her brother Castor and boyfriend Ham Gravy met Poyeye after searching for an able seaman to take them on a voyage. Ham asked, "Hey there, are you a sailor?" Popeye answered, "Ja think I was a cowboy?" During the voyage when Popeye ordered Olive Oyl to the ship’s galley, her response was, "Shut up, you bilge rat!"
