COMMON SPINY SPIDER CRAB
What can we say about crabs? The little buggers are a nuisance. They wear body armor with lots of bumps and sharp bits with clever little joints that allow elbows and knees and their other moving parts to bend and flex quite freely. All Crustacea like the crabs have ten legs, with the front pair often being sharp claws. Just below the protruding eyes there are two horns that look like noses. Only the meat inside the claws is eaten by hungry humans.
Steamed Spiny Spider Crab can be stuffed into the shell and covered with sea urchin roe and stiffly beaten egg whites. The resulting cooked egg-white mixture resembles the bubbles that froth from a live crab. |
