hat may be the world's largest skep (beehive) chicken coop made
from wattles is located in Woodland, Utah, about fifty miles east of
Salt Lake City in the foothills of the Uintas Mountains.
n anonymous gentile folk architect made the skep using wattles,
flexible tubes of straw enmeshed in a mesh measuring nine inches by
twenty-five feet, veggie sausages usually used for soil erosion. After
stacking the wattles into the skep form, the outsider architect, busy
as a Utah bee, covered the internal braced structure with a polymer
stucco and polymer honey-colored paint. Egg laying hens will find their
custom built home cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The
resident egg keeper will have easy access to the nests. |
