ART / A VISITOR'S GUIDE

Mount Lessismore State Memorial

Hacked-out on the face of the mountain are colossal busts of Ute Chief Black Hawk, Francisco Atanasio Dominguez, Silvestre Velez de Escalante, George Le Roy Parker (Butch Cassidy), John Wesley Powell, and Brigham Young.

Beehive Monument in Monument Valley

Carved out of red sandstone by the forces of nature, stands the largest natural skep in the world.

Rainbow Arch State Monument

Largest natural arch in the world, Rainbow Arch is 310 feet high and 279 feet wide.

Delicate Bridge State Monument

Largest natural cantilevered bridge in the world.

Shinarump Cliffs

In a series of natural amphitheaters on the edge of a high plateau, nature has sculpted elaborate sandstone formations which dazzle the eyes and the other senses.

Skutumpah Glacier

Third largest in the great Kolob Terrace ice field of the Wasatch Rockies, Skutumpah Glacier can be seen creeping down the flanks of Mt. Lessismore.

Scattered all over Art are archeological sites that provide a glimpse into times past when Freemont and Anasazi native peoples resided in this area.  A more extensive experience can be found at nearby Anasazi State Park in Boulder, Utah.
